Looks like there's a 2m SSTV net on Monday and Thursday evenings in Wiltshire. I hope to be joining it from North Bristol / South Gloucestershire ... thought it worth mentioning in case other locals would like to give it a go too.

144.500 FM - not sure of time, but I'll be calling CQ SSTV at regular intervals throughout the evenings smile.gif

Hi Steve
Sorry I couldn't get out in the shack yesterday, but got your pictures up here in Brinkworth (between Malmesbury and Swindon).

I am the organiser of the 2M SSTV nets, they start at around 20:00 hours. I also run an online Digimode group dedicated to all digital modes.

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/digimodeclub/

Theres lots of info on the forum with scematics, software, and users of both, so plenty of help is available to newcomers to digimodes.
Regards
Steve

As you can see apart from a line in the second picture (caused by my shack kettle) we should have no problem exchanging pictures.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting in touch. I initially saw mention of the SSTV net on the junksale, and figured I'd give it a go! The first thing that struck me is how poorly FM performs with SSTV; low signal levels on SSB tend to produce reasonable results, but on FM, even with an audible signal the FM 'hash' quickly gets in the way.

The only station I could hear and decode was M3PQV. I did hear a distant station (Chippenham?) but this was marginal, and again the FM hash prevented the decoding.

Was fun though - and good to get some experience of SSTV on 2m.

I'll try to join you on future nights too - will look forward to a future SSTV QSO smile.gif

M3PQV is Mike from Devizes, hes not in the best of locations but gets out well considering. The other station I could hear was Ian G0GRI who is from Bradford on Avon.
Hope to echange some pictures soon Steve

Regards from Steve
