Anyone had any experience on a HB9CV for 6, I purchased a Moonraker and the only decent SWR is around 2 on 50mhz and higher for 52mhz say 3, the beehive type capacitor is at it’s maximum capacitance.
In the end I decided to scrap the whole thing and convert it to the exact dimensions as the article by DK7ZB, changing the Z feeder with thick gage copper wire (16 swg) better then the aluminium rods which had several joints in.
The result was a bit better 1.5 on 50Mhz 2 on 52Mhz the aerial is mounted in the loft and I'm begging to wonder if it’s being effected by the local surroundings, or are these aerials quite temperamental.
I must admit I don’t like the trimmer in series with the centre core is there any other way of adjusting the phase with some thing like a quarter way stub of coaxial wire.
I did have a quarter wave vertical and that worked fine in the same location.
Any help would be appreciated.
